Creating a BVLOS Statewide Network in North Dakota

This week we interviewed Nick Flom, the Executive Director for the Northern Plains UAS Test Site (https://www.npuasts.com/) about their efforts to create the first Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) network in the country.

The North Dakota test site was part of the recently ended FAA Integration Pilot Program (IPP) and are now part of its successor program: BEYOND.

We discuss the importance of BVLOS and how to make it easier for all users. Nick explains the concept involved in deploying a statewide network. We also talk about their efforts to improve UAS operations in general and how everything fits in with Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) principles and Remote ID.
